*WHY DO SOME OSHC PATIENTS PAY A $25 GAP?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When an eligible standard GP consultation is bulk billed under Medicare, the clinic may receive both the standard consultation benefit and an additional bulk-billing incentive payment (item 75870).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

OSHC insurers operate under separate billing arrangements. Under the clinic\u2019s current arrangements, Allianz and Medibank pay the clinic an equivalent amount, while BUPA, ahm and nib do not.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Where the insurer does not pay this equivalent amount, a $25 clinic gap applies to help cover the payment shortfall. This is not an additional Medicare charge.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Routine Nurse Appointment<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Routine nurse appointments are bulk billed for Medicare card holders, excluding consumables, vaccines and privately billed services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patients with eligible OSHC\/OVHC are also eligible for direct billing for routine nurse appointments, excluding consumables, vaccines and privately billed services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If an insurer does not pay the item 75870-equivalent amount associated with an eligible routine nurse appointment, the clinic will waive the applicable shortfall. The patient will not be charged the additional $25 gap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CBHS patients may be required to pay at the clinic and claim directly from CBHS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Non Standard GP Appointment <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Long, complex, prolonged or extended GP consultations are not bulk billed and attract an out-of-pocket fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Procedures, specialised services, medical forms, letters and consumables are not bulk billed and may attract private fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Weekend Appointment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Weekend gap fees for eligible standard GP consultations are the same as weekday gap fees. Full private weekend and public holiday fees are higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Private GP Consultation Fees<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If Medicare or supported insurance cannot be used, the following private fees apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      TAC and WorkCover<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      TAC and WorkCover are not Medicare rebatable and standard consultation fees range from $90 to $160.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The final fee depends on the consultation length, complexity, documentation and services required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Medicare Card Holders<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Medicare card holders may book Medicare-rebatable consultations with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Dr Guo<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Dr Habana after 6:00 pm<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        If a doctor is not shown as available online, the doctor may be fully booked or unavailable. Please contact reception for assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n\n\n\n

        Medicare Bulk Billing Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Standard GP consultations may be bulk billed after the first annual standard consultation when the patient:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          \n
        • holds a valid Medicare card;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • is an eligible student or concession card holder;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • provides valid evidence of their student or concession status;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • is registered with us under MyMedicare;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • consults with a Medicare-eligible doctor; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • books an eligible standard GP consultation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          The first standard GP consultation in each calendar year is not bulk billed. A $50 out-of-pocket fee<\/strong> applies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Following eligible standard GP consultations in the same calendar year may be bulk billed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Patients who are not students or concession card holders are not eligible for bulk billing. A $50 out-of-pocket fee applies to each standard GP consultation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          \n\n\n\n

          Long or Complex Medicare Consultations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          Long, complex, prolonged and extended consultations are not bulk billed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          An out-of-pocket fee generally applies and may vary depending on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            \n
          • the consultation length;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • the Medicare item number billed;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • the number or complexity of medical concerns;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • documentation requirements; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • any procedures or additional services provided.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            Please book a longer appointment if you have:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            • multiple medical concerns;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • complex or chronic health issues;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • mental health concerns;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • medical forms or reports;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • WorkCover or TAC matters; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • a procedure requirement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n

              International Students with Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
              \n\n\n\n

              Overall OSHC Direct Billing Conditions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

              Direct billing cannot be guaranteed until the insurer accepts the claim after the consultation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

              Direct billing or reduced-gap arrangements apply only when:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                \n
              • the insurance policy is valid on the consultation date;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • the policy covers the consultation provided;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • the patient provides the required policy number or insurance card;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • the appointment is an eligible standard GP or routine nurse consultation<\/span>; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • the insurer accepts the claim.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                Long, complex, prolonged and extended consultations are not direct billed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                If the claim is declined or cannot be processed, the patient will need to pay the applicable private consultation fee on the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                The patient may then contact their insurer to determine whether they can claim a benefit from the insurer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                \n\n\n\n

                Allianz and Medibank OSHC<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                The first standard GP consultation in each calendar year is not fully direct billed. A $50 out-of-pocket fee<\/strong> applies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Following eligible standard GP consultations in the same calendar year will be directly billed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                A valid membership or policy number must be provided at the time of the appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                \n\n\n\n

                Bupa, ahm and nib OSHC<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                The first standard GP consultation in each calendar year attracts a $50 out-of-pocket fee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Following eligible standard GP consultations may have the standard consultation component directly billed. However, these insurers do not currently pay the additional amount linked to item 75870 under the clinic\u2019s billing arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                A $25 out-of-pocket fee applies to each following eligible standard GP consultation<\/strong> in the same calendar year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                For Bupa and nib, A valid physical or digital insurance card must be presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                If the card (BUPA and nib) or required policy details (ahm) are not provided, the full private consultation fee will apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                \n\n\n\n

                CBHS OSHC<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                CBHS OSHC is not supported for direct billing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Patients must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  \n
                1. pay the applicable consultation fee at the clinic; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                2. submit the claim directly to CBHS.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                  The benefit paid and the patient\u2019s final out-of-pocket cost depend on the individual CBHS policy. This typically results in an out-of-pocket cost of approximately $50, subject to the patient\u2019s individual CBHS policy.<\/p>\n\n\n

                  <\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\n
                  \n\n\n\n

                  International Visitors with Overseas Visitor Health Cover (OVHC)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
                  \n\n\n\n

                  Patients with valid Overseas Visitor Health Cover may be eligible for partial direct billing, depending on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    \n
                  • the insurer;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  • the individual policy;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  • the consultation item;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  • the services provided; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  • the clinic\u2019s current billing arrangements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                    Where partial direct billing is available, the remaining patient fee is usually approximately $50<\/strong>, depending on the consultation type and item billed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    Some standard nurse appointments may also be eligible for direct billing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    Please present a valid physical or digital OVHC card or provide the required policy details at every appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    If the policy is not supported, the details cannot be provided or the insurer declines the claim, the full private consultation fee will apply.<\/p>\n\n\n

                    Full private fees apply to patients who do not hold:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    • a valid Medicare card;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    • eligible OSHC supported by MCMC; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    • eligible OVHC supported by MCMC.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                      Full private fees also apply when:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                        \n
                      • the policy is valid but not supported for direct billing;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                      • the required insurance details are not provided;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                      • the insurer declines the claim; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                      • the consultation or service is not eligible for bulk billing or direct billing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                        • driver\u2019s licence and fitness examinations;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                        • aviation medical examinations;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                        • private medical forms, reports and letters;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                        • pathology services;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                        • vaccines and consumables;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                        • dressings and wound-care materials;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                        • cosmetic procedures;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                        • termination of pregnancy services;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                        • specialist consultations;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                        • general surgery; <\/li>\n\n\n\n
                        • diabetic educator services; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                        • dietitian services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
