Reception Authority

  • Reception is not authorized to provide test results to patients.
  • Test results can only be discussed or released by a doctor.

2️⃣ Standard Blood Test Turnaround Time

  • Basic blood test results usually take approximately 5 business days.
  • Once results are available, patients should be advised to book an appointment with the doctor to discuss them.

3️⃣ If Patient Requests Results Before Doctor Discussion

  • Due to privacy and clinical governance policies, reception cannot access or interpret patient results.
  • Reception should:
    • Inform the patient politely that results must be discussed with a doctor.
    • Offer to assist in booking an appointment with the doctor.

Suggested wording:

For privacy and clinical reasons, reception is unable to access or release results. We recommend booking an appointment with the doctor to review and discuss your results.

4️⃣ If Patient Requests Results After Doctor Discussion

  • If the patient has already discussed the results with the doctor:
    • Reception may politely check with the doctor whether they are able to send a copy.
    • Same-day copies are subject to the doctor’s availability and discretion.

Suggested internal workflow:

Inform patient that the copy will be sent at the doctor’s convenience.

Confirm discussion has already occurred.

Send message to doctor.
